For those that aren't aware, we've been selected to play in DRD Records' Sonic Smackdown II FINALS.
If we win, we will have the honor of signing with DRD Records. We'd record our debut album at the amazing Supernatural Sound—a studio that has put out some awesome records from some of Atlas and the Astronaut's favorite bands like Portugal. the Man, The Decemberists, The Shins, Modest Mouse, Bright Eyes, and many others.
The most important thing this competition offers is not the price value of the winnings, but the possibilty of exposure and taking our art on the road for new ears to hear. We make our music for ourselves, but that doesn't mean we don't want to share it with others. We would love to move people the same way that our favorite artists move us. It's not about money, it's about expression and the raw emotional impact only music can provide.
We want to thank everyone that has helped us get this far—those that have taken this journey with us. But this is only the beginning.
On March 16, we will be playing a show with a few other finalists to see if we can win the DRD Records contract.
50% of the votes come from DRD Records' employees. They'll be judging on things like crowd response, performace, song writing, stage presence, etc. We have those down. Don't worry about that.
Here's where we really need your assistance—the other 50% of the votes are gathered by the crowd. When you come to the show and buy your ticket, you will get a ballot to fill out. Check the Atlas and the Astronaut box, and bam, that's a vote. Better yet, If you buy your ticket online, you'll get TWO ballots to vote for us. EXTRA VOTE—what's not to like?
So, what we're trying to say is that WE NEED YOUR HELP. We need everyone to come out to our show and support us with votes, hoots, and hollars. Shoot, get drunk and dance while you're at it.
So please, come out, bring your friends. We're definitely the underdog in this thing.
Note: All the people that come out to the show to support us will get a thank you in the liner notes of the album or EP.
